Australia Most Popular Tourist Destination

Every year millions of people flock to one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world – Australia. There are so many great reasons to go to this southern continent and country, and so many wonderful things to do there as a visitor. The people who live there are fascinating and welcoming, and tourism in Australia is alive and well!

When people go on vacation, it’s usually an opportunity for them to get away from the dull daily living they endure most of the year. How people enjoy their vacation time is different, though and Australia is prepared to cater to all wants and desires. Some people want to be taken on guided tours through rough country, and have every wild creature pointed out to them. Others just want the chance to relax far away from their cares and concerns. This country caters to both types of tourist.

One of the main attractions for any vacation spot is a beach. Australia is blessed with approximately ten thousand beaches and it’s no wonder, since this land has fifty thousand kilometers of coastline. Surrounded by beautiful blue oceans, the Australian way of life is very laid back and the ocean is an integral part of that. Sand and sun are never far away.

Many tourists aren’t seeking beaches at all but are looking for hotels that offer shopping and fine dining, or a resort that can cater to their winding down energy levels. Byron at Byron is just such a luxury resort, with full service including apartment style rooms situated away from the main complex, five treatment rooms and Vichy style showers. Privacy and comfort are the course of the day at resorts like this.

There is no doubt that ever so many people come to Australia for the natural treasures, many of which have been protected by being declared world heritage sites. Ayers Rock, more exotically known as Uluru, its Aboriginal name, is a giant sandstone formation almost everyone in the world recognizes. With deep caves and waterholes, people can visit and view the ancient paintings left by the first people of the land. Or, at a place like Henbury Meteorites Conversation Reserve, the more scientifically inclined tourists can view a landscape that looks like it’s straight from the moon. Over five thousand years ago, a meteor exploded above Australia, leaving twelve impact craters in this park for modern tourists to wonder over.

World heritage sites abound in Australia, like Barron Gorge National Park. The amazing waterfalls are best viewed during the rainy season, when the rivers are overflowing with clean water. Tropical rainforests are everywhere, including Flecker Botanical Gardens, which easily boasts a hundred different varieties of the palm plant. The footpaths that trail through these gardens are peaceful and inviting, and give the land a chance to show off the rare and exotic foliage protected here.

Scuba diving and snorkeling are of course the main lure for Australian visitors. The Great Barrier Reef, which is actually visible from space, draws many all year long. Large portions of the reef are protected from human encroachment but there are still select spots for tourists to rent a boat and go exploring. Melbourne, a city on the edge of the land, can brag about helicopter rides over the reef for purchase by tourists. Visitors to Australia can also take sunrise and sunset hot air balloon rides over this modern city itself, offering a bird’s eye view of the amazing landscape and architecture.

As a tourist destination, Australia is an amazing choice full of great opportunities. From scuba diving to backpacking, from luxury hotels to discrete hidden resorts, there is nothing you can’t experience in this country. Hot night clubs attached to shopping districts and modern cities or conservation areas and natural reserves and parks, you’re bound to find something to do. Fly high or swim deep! Australia offers it all!
