The fleet has many trains that they have bought from many locations. The oldest of that line is the 439 Tiffany. Originally this engine would be built in the year of 1893, by Dubs and Company from Scotland. When it was first in service it was used by the Cape Government and used for the tip from Johannesburg into Cape Town.
After its retirement the Vos family would purchase this beauty in 1987. Though it wasn’t in the greatest of shape at that time. Through a lot of work though it was brought back to be as beautiful as ever. A change was made to make the boiler one that was more efficient though.
Next would be through the following years the purchase of three separate 19D class locomotives. They were originally built from 1937 until 1948, and only a total of 235 were ever made.
Once they were purchased they would be given the same treatment as the Tiffany and be made all new. Again one chance would be made to modify the tender this time. Adding a larger one to increase the distance the engines would be able to travel.
The first of these engines that would be added to the fleet would be 2702 Bianca. She was originally made during the year 1938. This beautiful machine would be found in one of the scrap metal yards. After a bit of work she would be placed into service as beautiful as ever.
The second of these would also be found while in a scrap metal yard. This time it would be the 2701 Brenda and her turn to be redone and made into the beauty that she once was.
While the final of these were added after Rohan made a trip to the yard where the other trains were being worked on. It would be the addition of the 3360 Shaun this time. Again with that loving touch it would be made into the classic that you have now.
There is no better way to travel in this manner when you head to South Africa. Not only will you be able to enjoy the classic locomotives, but you have all the comfort needed on the inside. The suites will have all that you need already in them.
