Florida is a southern state of the United States that receives recognition as the absolute best place to retire. Filled with many elderly retirees, this state is also home to famous beaches that families enjoy for their entertainment and great neighborhoods.
Some beaches have the benefit of having lifeguards on active duty. During the day and leading up to the evening, tourists will enjoy this extra safety at the Siesta Key Public Beach. The added safety automatically makes the Siesta Key Public Beach a winner for any family vacationing in the area. It also has an inviting atmosphere with its clear waters and white sandy beach: quite the sight on a sunny day!
Romantic beaches do exist. To be a romantic beach, it must have a limited crowd population and have a great view of the sunset. The Blind Pass Beach in Sanibel fits the description, but it isn’t quite perfect. You might have problems finding parking since spaces are limited. This is another of our exciting family adventures in Guatemala. This time my husband and I decided that we wanted to take our son for a visit to Semuc Champey and the Lanquin Caves. For that we had to stay in the nearby town of Cobn. But let’s talk about the town first: Cobn is a beautiful town located in the Alta Verapaz Department of Guatemala. It is located 1320 meters above sea level so it gets a bit chilly at night. It is also one of the major coffee producers of the country. Plus it is located among mountains and forests that guard one of Guatemala’s treasures: the Monja Blanca Orchid. (this country’s national flower).
It is also the place where the famous Rabin Ahau takes place in july. This is a beauty contest. This is a bit different of what we are used to. In it native Guatemalan women wear their typical dresses and perform a series of presentations that include talking in their mayan language and dancing traditional marimba songs. Guatemala has surprised me a lot. It is so much more than I thought which brings me to my story:
This time we were visiting a theme park in Guatemala that we love. It is called Xetulul and can be found in the Retalhuleu Department of Guatemala. The place is fantastic and we love visiting it, next to it is its sister, Xocomil Water Park. Since I’m not crazy about pools we had never visited it but this time we gave it a shot. An all I have to say is I can’t believe what I was missing.
The place is amazing; it has many pools for kids with waterslides and places where they can have some fun without adults having to run after them all the time. There are also huge waterslides for adults that looked pretty scary but the truth is that the turned out to be a lot of fun. It is said that these are some of the best waterslides in Central America.
