Ireland For Gay Holiday Destinations

February 12th, 2010 by Howie Holben

The intriguing country of Ireland has been a popular gay vacations since the days when Oscar Wilde called this nation home. Of course, during his time Ireland was not as welcoming and accepting of LGBT folks and many, including Wilde, were jailed or sent off to hard labor camps for what was then termed “indecency.” Sadly, up until 1861, death was considered an acceptable punishment for acts of sodomy, but today Ireland has moved well beyond these dark days and has recently bested the U.S. when it comes to LGBT rights by legalizing same-sex civil unions in 2009, after decriminalizing same-sex behaviors in 1993.

While this may not necessarily mean that every rural village – or even every metropolitan area – in this largely Catholic country now fully embraces same-sex relationships, Ireland has become a much more accepting, welcoming country as a whole and is a truly remarkable choice for gay travel. Most of Ireland’s larger cities, including Cork, Dublin, Galway and Waterford, now have a thriving community, establishments that are LGBT-friendly or LGBT-owned, annual community celebrations and a plethora of attractions that could easily fill your whole vacation; however, you also will not want to miss visiting the Irish countryside and exploring quaint villages sitting at the top of breathtaking cliffs along the coast.

Whale Watching in the Pacific Northwest

January 4th, 2010 by Bill Carli

The Pacific Northwest is home to many whale watching destination vacations. Killer whales and Orca whales can be seen both from the shores along Washington state’s coast and from private whale watching ships. The San Juan Islands off the northwest coast of Washington is the most popular destination for those who want to see the whale migration and habitat.

The islands of San Juan, Orcas, Shaw and Lopez make up the largest of the San Juan Islands. These four are the most accessible and popular, as they are the only ones that the Washington state ferries provide service to. The San Juan Islands include the 80 islands in the San Juan Island Refuge and are made up of over 170 islands total. These islands were once part of a land mass that joined Canada’s Vancouver Island to Washington state. Protected from the Pacific Ocean by the Olympic Penninsula and Vancouver Island, the islands are indeed a perfect refuge for wildlife. Orca whales, sea lions and a wide range of other creatures make their homes in this area of land that is more than 20 miles from the mainland. Besides the ferry service, the larger of the islands are also accessible by private plane and boat.

Can American Bikers Unite To Protect Themselves Before It Is Too Late?

December 25th, 2009 by L.J. James

There is a new law in Virginia that will ban Motorcycle Club Colors in Bars. The law, originally aimed at Street Gangs, is causing quite a stir with Virginia Bikers. The law states that Bar & Restaurant owners will lose their liquor license if they allow patrons who wear “gang” related attire such as Club Logo’s or Colored Bandannas.

These sort of “grey area” laws are extremely dangerous and a threat to everyone’s freedom. Who decides what constitutes “Gang Apparel”? I’m wondering if Boy Scouts are going to be able to eat together at Applebees if they are in their uniforms.

According to news reports, many Bikers and Motorcycle Club Members in Virginia have already begun fighting this law. If a law like this is allowed to stand in Virginia, it won’t be long until it is passed in other states across America!

We as Motorcyclists and Bikers (It does not matter what you call yourself) have to realize fast that we are all connected. It doesn’t matter what you ride, what State you live in or who you Support, we’re all in this together. What effects Me effects you and it doesn’t matter what you happen to think of me.
